What is Songcards?¶
Songcards is a local-first Windows app for keeping the information behind your songs together.
Each song gets one searchable Songcard for creative material, Suno generation details, credits, rights notes, release information and publication links.
Does Songcards generate music?¶
No.
Songcards documents and organises the work around a song. It is not a music generator or DAW.
Is Songcards connected to Suno?¶
No account connection is required.
Songcards does not sign in to your Suno account or automatically import private Suno account data. You record the information you want to keep, such as the model, plan used, Suno song URL, style prompt and generation settings.
Songcards is an independent product and is not affiliated with Suno.
Where is my Songcards library stored?¶
The desktop app stores its working library locally on your machine.
There is no Songcards account or Songcards cloud library holding a copy for automatic recovery.
Does Songcards upload my lyrics or Songcard data to HugByte?¶
The desktop product does not require uploading your Songcard library to HugByte for normal use.
Songcards is designed to work offline.
What happens if my computer fails?¶
You may lose the local working library if you do not have a backup.
Create full backups regularly and keep copies somewhere safe and separate from the working machine. HugByte cannot restore data that was never backed up.
What is the difference between Merge and Replace?¶
Merge restores backup content without first clearing the current local library.
Replace removes the current local library before restoring the selected backup.
If you are unsure, create a fresh backup before using either restore mode. See Backup & restore.
Can Songcards import an older 0.0.7 backup?¶
Songcards 0.0.8 includes the migration path for supported 0.0.7 backup data.
The original backup file is not rewritten during import. Keep it until you have confirmed the imported library.
Is Obsidian required?¶
No.
Songcards can import and export its supported Markdown structure, and no Songcards-specific Obsidian plugin is required. You can also read the Markdown files in other editors.

Does Songcards store my master audio or cover image?¶
No.
The Master file and Cover file fields store a filename, local path or note/reference. Songcards does not store the media file itself as an attachment.
Does Songcards prove who owns a song?¶
No.
Songcards gives you a place to record rights-review status, copyright ownership information, songwriters, credits and notes. It does not determine legal ownership and does not provide legal advice.
Does recording a Suno setup guarantee I can reproduce the same song?¶
No.
Keeping the model, prompt, settings and generation context gives you a stronger reference for later work, but it does not guarantee an identical future generation.
Why does Windows warn me about the installer?¶
Songcards 0.0.8 is distributed with an unsigned Windows installer.
Windows SmartScreen may therefore show an unknown publisher / Windows protected your PC warning. Verify the installer filename and compare its SHA-256 value with SHA256SUMS.txt before running it.

Is an internet connection required?¶
Normal Songcards Desktop use does not require network access.
Links you choose to open — for example a Suno song URL or publication link — naturally point to external services, but the Songcards working library itself is local.
What should I back up?¶
Use Songcards' full backup for recovery of the library.
Markdown, portable Songcards and catalogue exports are useful for other workflows, but a regular full backup should remain part of normal use.

When reporting a problem, include the Songcards version, what you were trying to do, what happened, and any error text you can safely share.
Do not email confidential lyrics, full backups or sensitive files unless they are genuinely necessary for the support case.
